The internet may be an ideal tool for disseminating current events quickly and cheaply around the world, however, web-photos are fugitive and easily lost and forgotten. By meticulously reproducing the jpg as a hand-painted miniature, old notions of “Art” and craft preserve recent history.
Museum Interiors
I spend a lot of time in museums. I usually take a sketchbook or my paintbox with me to draw and paint what is before me. See samples of this ongoing series here. .
Things Unseen
This project began by painting small oil sketches from within the museum’s storage area. Later, large canvases imagined museum artefacts as the dinosaurs that symbolize museums in popular culture.
